Gamelatron Gandaberunda by Aaron Taylor Kuffner is an instrument inspired by Hindu mythology.
Gamelatron Gandaberunda is named after a two-headed mythical bird creature on the outskirts of the main Hindu mythology, believed to possess immense magical strength. This artwork features 36 mirror polished hand forged bronze gongs, and two Balinese style cymbal arrays called ceng-ceng tuned to a non standard 6-note scale.
Please do not touch the gongs or ceng-ceng's. -
Gamelatron Gandaberunda's songs consist of multiple live performances, and the process is similar to a DJ mix. Song names represent the flow of live performances, composed of mixed-scored compositions. The compositions' names are not traditional song titles but reflect live performance experiences. The installation itself is an acoustic replication of the live performances as it responds to the space's acoustics, creating a unique auditory experience.
